Virtual Tour Launched

Richard Robinson • Mar 09, 2021

The UK Battery Industrialisation Centre (UKBIC), which recently announced that its Module and Pack suite of specialist battery manufacturing equipment is operational, has just released its first ever virtual tour of the pioneering battery production development facility.

The tour will give interested companies and organisations working on battery technologies for applications including electric vehicles, rail, aerospace, industrial and domestic equipment & static energy storage development, the opportunity to view first-hand, the 18,500 square metre facility.

The new film features UKBIC’s state-of-the-art battery manufacturing equipment – sourced and supplied from leading manufacturers across the globe – which is available for customers to use.

The battery manufacturing equipment at the Coventry based facility covers the entire production process from electrode manufacturing, cylindrical and pouch cell assembly, cell formation aging and testing, as well as battery module build and full battery pack assembly.

Jeff Pratt, UKBIC’s Managing Director, said: “Although a virtual tour is no replacement for the real thing, we’re hoping that the film will give interested companies and organisations a taste of what we have on offer to those working on battery development.

“Our unique, open-access facility, which will be fully open for business later this year, allows organisations in the UK to prove whether their promising technologies can be manufactured at the required volume, speed, performance and cost to be commercially successful.

“Once fully operational, clients can bring their own employees in to work and be trained with us on the line. They will be able to integrate processes unique to their own products temporarily to our facility. We can also help them build bespoke lines to enable them to prove higher throughput production in early stages whilst customers build their own production lines.”
