UKBIC achieves ISO 9001:2015 certification

The UK Battery Industrialisation Centre (UKBIC) has achieved certification against an internationally recognised standard for its work in developing its Quality Management System (QMS).

UKBIC, the national battery manufacturing development facility, has achieved certification against ISO 9001:2015 by BSI, the business improvement and standards company for the organisation’s QMS which supports the facility’s systems and processes.

The organisation was assessed for its approach to quality planning across the organisation.

To achieve ISO 9001:2015 certification, UKBIC, which provides battery manufacturing scale-up and facilitates upskilling in the battery sector, was initially audited in May 2021. It then went through a second audit in December 2021, before certification was granted in February 2022.

Jeff Pratt, UKBIC Managing Director, said:

“Achieving this certification is fantastic news for us, our customers, and the growing UK battery industry. I am extremely proud of my team for their outstanding work in securing this certification. This demonstrates our commitment to ensuring quality and providing the best possible service to our customers. We are dedicated to constant improvement and development; and achieving and maintaining certification to ISO 9001:2015 ensures we have the right processes and systems in place for this to happen.”

Dr Ahmad Mohsseni, UKBIC’s Chief Technology Officer, added:

“I’m very pleased that UKBIC, only months after being opened by the Prime Minister, has achieved this certification, something we are all extremely proud of. To learn that we have met the requirements of the standard is testament to the hard work carried out by colleagues across the organisation.”

Matt Page, BSI’s Managing Director UK and Ireland, added:

“By achieving certification to ISO 9001, UKBIC will provide confidence to its customers and stakeholders that it is carrying out best practice in quality management and is focused on continually improving its products and services. Huge congratulations to the team at UKBIC – they should be very proud of this achievement.”

UKBIC has been created to support UK industry with development of battery technologies for future electrification.
