About Us

ABOUT US

The UK Battery Industrialisation Centre (UKBIC) is the national manufacturing development facility providing battery manufacturing scale-up and skills to support the transition to an electrified future.

We’re  here to help organisations scale up their battery technologies into production.

Our 20,000m² facility has been created to support industry with development of battery technologies for a range of uses including electric vehicles and wider transportation, static energy storage and other industrial applications.

We can be described as a ‘learning factory’ for organisations to develop blueprints for manufacturing processes and prototyping-at-scale of new electrodes, battery cells, module and pack structures.

Our objective is to help organisations to increase confidence in manufacturing plant investment for new battery-related technologies. We achieve this by bridging the gap between R&D and manufacture, massively reducing the level of risk for investors.

HIGHLIGHTS:

REDUCING RISK

Reducing commercial risk for high volume manufacturing investments.

OPEN ACCESS

Open access, promoting industrial collaboration for organisations of all sizes.

DEVELOPING

Modular 'learning factory' used for trialling and short volume manufacture.

PROTOTYPING

Prototyping at scale from materials to packs.

OWN YOUR IP

We don’t take a share in customers' IP developed through our facility.

UP SKILLING

Delivering skills and training to support the growth of the battery industry.
