CELL DEVELOPMENT

Our expertise in product engineering and manufacturing engineering, coupled with our state-of-the-art equipment, ensures we can manufacture high quality products for all of our customers. We have extensive understanding in product engineering of cell design, materials, electrochemistry, mechanical and electrical; and in manufacturing engineering, across electrode, cell, module, and pack manufacturing.

Electrode

Our electrode manufacturing capability incorporates mixing, coating and drying, calendering & slitting.

Mixing:

  • ISO8 clean room
  • Segregated anode and cathode
  • Option to mix cathode under inert atmosphere
  • -70°C humidity
  • 2 x intensive mixers
  • Batch size: 150 -220 litres
  • Solvents:
  • Anode: de-ionised water
  • Cathode: n-methyl pyrrolidone (NMP)

Coating & Drying:

  • Environment:
  • ISO7 clean room
  • Cathode rewind only: dew point = -40°C
  • Foil width: 300-700mm
  • Technology:
  • Simultaneous slot die coating
  • Flotation dryers
  • Defect inspection
  • Dimensional inspection of Coatweight
  • Dryer length: 40m (8 x 5m zones)
  • Coating width: Up to 690mm
  • Max. roll diameter: 800mm

Calendering & Slitting:

Cell Assembly

We have the capability to deliver cell assembly at industrial rates.

Cylindrical cell assembly:

  • Dew point at electrolyte fill = -50°C
  • Cell format: 21700

Pouch cell assembly:

  • Environment:
  • ISO7 clean room & dew point = -40°C
  • Dew point at electrolyte fill = -50°C
  • Cell format: 300mm x 100mm x 10mm
  • Technology: Z-fold stacking
