This was the first in our series of UKBIC webinars, starting with a session discussing the importance of battery manufacturing scaleup. Also included, were some of the key lessons learned by UKBIC's team of experts, since we were first opened in 2021. 

The presentation - given by our Head of Business Development, Yahya Alvar, also discussed our facility's numerous capabilities:

• Flexible Pilot Line (FPL):  Will bridge the gap between our Industrial Scale-up Line (ISL) and kilogram scale demonstrator lines available elsewhere.
• Industrial Scaleup Line (ISL): Our existing full-scale equipment covers the whole production process from electrode manufacturing, cylindrical cell & pouch cell assembly, formation, ageing & testing, to module & pack assembly.
• Clean and Dry Zone (CDZ): Provides a dedicated clean and dry room environment, which can be subdivided for different uses. This means you can develop individual processes or machinery under carefully curated environmental conditions.
• Development Laboratory (BDL): Boosts our capabilities in battery materials characterisation, cell analysis, and forensic conditions
• Cell Characterisation: Features our new cell cyclers and environmental chambers, which will be housed inside a 135m squared air-conditioned unit inside our existing formation, ageing, and testing area.
• Module and Pack: Our module and pack assembly capability allows for process development and low-volume manufacture.
• Cell Assembly: Our existing high-volume specialist manufacturing equipment is perfect for those organisations in need of representative scale-up.
